Jaime Peña Lopez, Leader, co-facilitator, translator and interpreter for the first workshop for The Asháninka Photography Project, is a bilingual Asháninka from a small community in the Rio Ene Valley. Jaime has traveled to Europe to meet with Indigenous Organizations and Advocates and to Brazil to meet with Asháninka, and the Asháninka filmmakers from Video Nas Aldeias. who have been using film and photography to "support their struggles in order to strengthen identities, and territorial and cultural heritage". Jaime is closely involved in local indigenous organizations, and heads capacity building projects in the Rio Ene Valley, he also works with SANCORE (Association of Asháninka Coffee producers) supported externally by EcoTriball. |

Ecotribal was established in 2004 after a long period of gestation, including 28 years travelling and working in South America, accumulating experience in anthropology, sustainable development, teaching, tourism and journalism. This work has led to strong direct links to rainforest communities, particularly in the Peruvian Amazon. |
